Deathrope, that’s a heavyweight train style rock band made in Zurich. If the foursome hung its sound as a flag from the roof, it would look like a rough, grime rag soaked with blues and tattered by the prairie wind.
Deathrope thunders along the dark side of the American Dream. However, the high-frequency Rock Noir is complemented with some gray shades: On their third album “Love Hz” David Langhard – the Buffalo Bill among the Swiss indie producers, currently known and notorious for the project Howlong Wolf – gets them on the pop track. Deathrope slows down now and then, for example in “No Heart of Gold” or “Buscar mi Amor”.
Yet the combo blows off their steam, firing up the audience with pumping bass, raucous electric guitar and rattling hi hat. And with refrains that are echoing for hours in your ear canals. They tell tales of dubious characters and their life between gallows and gangster glory. It’s about time to shoot the first western of Zurich’s red light district in film history – the soundtrack is already there.
